WordPress has officially launched the new blogger-to-WordPress blog migration tool (source: WordPress blog). Now you can import your posts from new blogger platform to WordPress blog which is not possible earlier. This is great news for blogspot bloggers who want to shift their blog to wordPress blog but switched to or using new blogger platform. You’ll find it in the same old place ->Dashboard ->click Manage ->Import ->Blogger. If you find any trouble in doing so, click the Feedback link in your admin pages, to inform the WordPress about the trouble. Goto

So a good antivirus program is need of the hour. There are many antivirus programs available on the net, some of popular antivirus programs are Norton antivirus,Kapersky, McAfee, F-secure, Panda software, take care of your computer from viruses, hackers, Trojan horse and other malwares.

Sankar Anand has created a post on his blog to check antivirus installed on computer is working and good enough to detect intentionally created virus or not. First click on Start menu, click Run and type notepad,hit enter, save this empty text file with any name on the desktop. Goto desktop and open the just created text file and paste this without quotes “X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*”. Now save file by pressing (ctr l+S), keyboard shortcut to save a file. Now if your antivirus program is running you won’t be able to save file. When you tries to save file auto protect of antivirus delete the text file and shows the popup message displaying message of blocking “EICAR test string”. So go and check your antivirus program.

WordPress 2.1 Released

WordPress 2.1 ReleasedWordPress released another update on January 22, 2007 – called Ella (after Ella Fitzgerald) – that promotes the blogging software up to the 2.1 level. The update includes a number of new feature introductions like auto save, increased use of AJAX and a spell checking function for the visual editor.

According to the WordPress blog, Ella also fixes over 550 bugs, something that’s sure to please enterprising SEO blog hackers. Another area of interest concerning the Ella update has to do with the introduction of a search engine privacy feature. This will allow WP bloggers to determine whether or not they want their work to be pinged to or indexed by the search industry.

Because blog comment spam is a constant worry, any news concerning the Akismet plugin – the favorite WordPress comment spam tool – will be of major interest, Akismet has also been updated and is bundled in with WordPress 2.1 Ella. According to the Akismet blog, some of these changes include:

  • Users can now search the Akismet caught queue
  • A new counter widget showing a live count of your spam
  • Discard spam that comes in on posts older than a month

WordPress 2.0.7WordPress organization proved everyone wrong and released WordPress 2.0.7 over 2.0.6. The WordPress 2.0.7 contain of PHP security problem and the Feedburner issue that was in 2.0.6.If you are using Wordpres 2.0.6 then you don’t need to update all WordPress’ files.

wordPress released WordPress 2.0.6 on January 5, 2007. This new version includes an important security fix and it’s recommended that everyone should upgrade.

Here’s what’s new:

* Security fixes.
* HTML quicktags now work in Safari browsers.
* Comments are filtered to prevent them from messing up your blog layout.
* Compatibility with PHP/FastCGI setups.

For developers, there’s a new anti-XSS function called attribute_escape(), and a new filter called “query” which allows you filter any SQL at runtime. (Which is pretty powerful.)
