How TV works on Mobile Phone ?

NOKIA N 95
The small screen is all set to become even smaller. Television broadcasters are eyeing ways to reach mobile phone users. For sometime now, downloads of video clips of TV programmes/serials have been available in India, both for mobile phones and computer screens. Soon, it will be possible to view entire live telecasts of programmes on mobiles phones. It’s just the beginning and while the technology part has been more or less ironed out, broadcast and content strategies need to be worked out.

How TV works on Mobile ?

1 A head-end on the ground (a transmission centre with one or more dish antenna) captures digital TV signals from a satellite.

2 The signal are processed and then, through a 200-300 m tower, these are transmitted to surrounding areas within a radius of 30 Km.

3 A DVB-enabled cellphone handset receives the signal and a subscriber to the service is able to see live TV programmes on his mobile.

4 The set up also allows a reverse path flow from handsets to the transmitter, sending information on usage patterns, audience voting messages, etc.

I would also like to mention that while searching Apple iPhone theme for my Sony Ericsson’s W550i, i got another eye pleasant theme based on Sunflower wallpaper of Windows Vista created by the same person. SoonR-Acces your PC files on your Mobile Phone

In today’s world technology is changing every second. What you think is not possible at present a moment ago becomes possible next moment. The same applies to your cell phone if you think your phone is only capable of just making calls and sending SMSs. Many of the new models, smart phones, come packed with the power of a mini PC. They let you read/write mails, surf Internet, work on office files, even book tickets. However, most of the critical information that you need to will usually be stored on your PC. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could access on your phone documents and mails stored on your PC? If you’re missing this functionality, SoonR comes to help you. The nice thing about it is that with this software, any phone with data access capabilities becomes a smart phone.

SoonR is a tiny piece of software that sits in your PC and lets you search your files and folders from a mobile phone. You can view or share any of the results that you discover right from your phone. It,s made up of three main components: SoonR Desktop to search and access documents and images, SoonR Organizer for email, scheduling and contacts and SoonR Talk for mobile VoIP.

To use SoonR you don’t need to install any software on your mobile phone, all you need is a decent GPRS connection to get started. However, on your PC you would need to install a PC software client, and tell the client what part of your PC you need access to. For instance, say you select Outlook. SoonR will send a web link to your phone just click on it and you can view all outlook email, as well as contacts and calender, from any phone (you need to run your PC when you’re out and accessing the outlook through SoonR). Viewing photos or files from the phone is a snap too. You could just Google any image you have on your PC or navigate to the file and select it. SoonR will take the image and compress it to a small thumbnail of around 73 KB to fit your phone’s small screen. With store folder at any time you can even access your files with your PC turned off. This is accomplished by caching an encrypted copy of information in our secure web servers of SoonR. The result is decent. however patience is the key, especially with the kind of GPRS network speed you get in India the image can take a long time to load but with EDGE phones the experience is slightly better. You can even change file format as well.

With SoonR Talk component you can connect with Skype service (VoIP) on your PC and make free calls from your cell phone. Other features include ability to access more than one PC with one SoonR account and intergeration of desktop search (like Google Desktop search).

Why send SMS when you can chat on mobile instant messenger ?

If you spend lots of time on your cell phone sending SMS to your friends. Well, chatting through your phone may be a better option for you. For one,it works out cheaper than sending a volley of text messages across.

Today most modern phones offer Java compatibility, email and MMS support, Internet connectivity via GPRS/EDGE and an intelligent operating system such as symbian which is more than enough for mobile instant messaging and if you are interested in chatting on Live Messenger or Google Talk with your phone, then there are lots of programs available out there and most of them are available free of cost. You can either download the application on your computer and then transfer to the mobile phone or directly download onto the your cell phone via GPRS. So if you can’t wait to get started, here are some of the instant messenger you should be looking at.

1) Nimbuzz: Nimbuzz provides multiple connectivity with Live Messenger, Google Talk and Nimbuzz’s own messaging service. Visit http://get.nimbuzz.com from your mobile browser to download the application. Once you’ve registered on Nimbuzz site, simply select the messaging service of your choice and you are ready to chat.

2) Instango: This nifty application promises connectivity with Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger, MSN, ICQ and Jabber all in one. Jabber is one of the most popular open source clients that uses the XMPP (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol), also used in very famous Google Talk.
Instango uses a proxy server to connect to the Jabber service. This proxy server minimises traffic considerably. For example, if you’re using Google Talk for an hour on the computer uses up to 1 MB of bandwidth, Instango will do the same in about 100 KB. This is quite important given the fact that most cellular providers charge you by the MB. Once you have downloaded and installed the application from http://www.instango.com, the next thing you need to do is configure it.

If you don’t already have a Jabber ID, you should download and install the PSI Jabber client on your main computer from http://psi-im.org and then register a new Jabber account for yourself.
